I've already found malware on the windows recovery partitions which allowed it to survive a format & reinstall of the main partition.
I still think a "factory reset" feature is a good feature to have, but it's very lame that manufacturers require us to purchase CD/DVD media separately. It ought to be included, even if only because the hard drive could fail.
