Linux Lennart Poettering, the author of systemd, has announced: "I just put a first version of a wiki document together that lists a couple of easy optimizations to get your boot times down to [less than] 2s. It also includes a list of suggested things to hack on to get even quicker boot-ups."

Hey, I can do a lot in 100ms! I could literally blink in that huge window of time, or I could have a fleeting thought, why I could even scan halfway across my screen with my eyes!

Sarcasm aside, I don't use SELinux myself as I'm not that paranoid about security. My router's firewall has never been breached (in fact I've tried to get through it myself while at work, to no avail), and I also use iptables on the computer itself. So I'll be able to blink at least one more time during boot! ;)
