Apple Another Apple-to-switch-Macs-to-ARM post. "Apple engineers have grown confident that the chip designs used for its mobile devices will one day be powerful enough to run its desktops and laptops, said three people with knowledge of the work, who asked to remain anonymous because the plans are confidential. Apple began using Intel chips for Macs in 2005." No idea when Apple will make the switch, but they will do it. I'm thinking 5-10 year timeframe.

The shoe is also on the other foot too. Apple get's bashed hard by Android fans. The truth is that anonymous forums are not the place to discuss any serious subject. There's no accountability, so one can call anyone all kinds of names and no one will have any way to un-do that, save deleting wholesale chunks of the thread (as Thom has recently) or ban the users in question (which achieves little if they then create a new account.) What OSNews needs is a non-anonymous user sign up process - then people have some kind of recourse for ensuring the users commenting are genuine and not out to personally attack people. Another thing might be to have a system where people are unable to comment if they are deemed to have a low "karma" level. The problem with a simplified moderation system is that it only works when people play fair. People don't play fair here.
