My servers are out sourced, cloud. So I don't have to worry (too much) about its hardware failure. But I do have backups (git checkouts, mostly).
My "desktop" is a macbook, with time machine backup. Never failed, yet, but I know I can rescue it easily on another (mac) device if I need to.
That's enought for me, and I guess for most people. And a lot less time consuming =)
