Editorial Do you depend on your computer for your living? If so, I'm sure you've thought long and hard about which hardware and software to use. I'd like to explain why I use generic "white boxes" running open source software. These give me a platform I rely on for 100% availability. They also provide a low-cost solution with excellent security and privacy.

Some people say software support is not so good on the OSS side. Myself and my company we use a distribution called OS4 and its just as good as Windows and Red Hat Linux. The support side of its awesome. We have a support subscription for that company PC/OpenSystems LLC and they are wonderful. We havent run into a problem they havent been able to fix. The guys are courteous and they are just wonderful. I recommend them to anyone.
