No it's a cost saving measure. They don't want to support every distro and they don't have to given the popularity of CENT.
Saying "CPANEL sux" won't make it go away anymore than saying "Office sux" when someone points out it doesn't run in Linux. Intertia will continue to build around CENT/RHEL/Oracle because of software like CPANEL. Sorry but that is reality.
