Graphics, User Interfaces "In this article I'm going to talk about what flat design is, review what other designers are saying about it, and offer some tips on how to achieve it in your own designs." I give you one attempt to guess which 'design aesthetic' the next version of OSNews is inspired by. And yes, we will eventually get it done.

flat design

As with a lot of styles, everything goes to the edges of usability if employed to the extremes. SkM is one of the extremes, as is going totally flat. In a way it's like with fashion designers, sometimes they tend to be extreme to shock or raise attention, but that doesn't mean everyone adopts their style (fortunately). Why should be any different with UI styles? Options should be provided, and an option somewhere in the middle of the two extremes would always be nice. If missing, don't be surprised to get really mixed opinions.
