Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu Mark Shuttleworth: "I simply have zero interest in the crowd who wants to be different. Leet. 'Linux is supposed to be hard so it's exclusive' is just the dumbest thing that a smart person could say." He's right. Lots of interesting insights in this blog post - I may not agree with everything Ubuntu does, but at least it's doing something.

maethorechannen,

That's a good point, what's more the line is a strawman. The *real* argument may go something more like advanced users not appreciating having their platform dumbed down for nonsavy users. Instead of addressing the real argument, shuttleworth chose to argue against a strawman.

(If I'm wrong and someone actually did say what shuttleworth is quoting, can someone key me in with the source? Thanks)

IMHO a desktop OS can be powerful and friendly at the same time, and Ubuntu was doing a great job of it until a few years ago when I left the OS for Mint which was doing a better job at being a user driven OS whereas Ubuntu became a fiat os.
