Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu Ubuntu 13.04 has been released, with the Linux 3.8.8 kernel, a faster and less resource hungry Unity desktop, LibreOffice 4.0, and much more. Ubuntu users will know where to get it, and you're looking for a new installation, have fun. Also fun: UbuntuKylin.

Actually, I would consider giving it a try in a virtual machine, *if* the interface and overall environment really has improved/evolved, *and* if it doesn't require fancy hardware acceleration (which makes trying it in a virtual machine... pretty much impossible). If it is the same old desktop with no worthwhile user/performance, then no I do not want to waste my time trying it.

I gave KDE4 the benefit of the doubt and tried it later on after it evolved... and right now KDE4 just happens to be what I am running (and has been for quite a while).
