Linux I volunteer as tech support for a small organization. For years we relied on Ubuntu on our desktops, but the users didn't like it when Ubuntu switched to the Unity interface. This article tells about our search for a replacement and why we decided on Xfce running atop Linux Mint.

I totally disagree. On my new windows 7 laptop I needed to install Firefox, video codecs, antivirus (MSE), a bittorrent client, anti-malware, tune-up software, a video encoder etc before I had a really usable machine.

In contrast Xubuntu 12.04 worked flawlessly on the same laptop without me needing to remove a pile of bloat and install a lot of other software. The Broadcom wireless worked perfectly out of the box.
