Google back in 2005:

There will be no banner ads on the Google homepage or web search results pages.

Google today:

The company confirmed to the Guardian that it is testing a system with about 30 advertisers in the US in which it shows banner ads for companies including SouthWest Airlines on pages which include them in web search results.

And people wonder why I have zero trust in companies.

they only care when some community FOSS project is attacked.

Which is funny when most of the FLOSS-tard BS is somewhat more insidious from a social standpoint -- given most of it is lies spoon fed to kids still having life paid for by mommy and daddy by the gray-hair dirty hippy wannabe back-room *nix geeks who were left behind by the real computer revolution of the '80's and '90's...

Can you tell I'm a fan? (I actually am... of ACTUALLY giving stuff away as opposed to the FSS's lies, propaganda and bunk)

It will lead to bad decisions (like more and more invasive ads) which will make an opening for the competition.

That is really the silver lining of the situation. It's making an opportunity -- now all it takes is someone with the proper backing to jump on it.
