Some OSs core assets are desktop and others are server. A good review should discuss the core asset of the system. The article would have been better if it had focused on the main goals of DF. Though, I appreciate comments on the Unix nerds user experience of DF too. Also he has every right to write about this. However, the goal of the article should have been stated from the start, even in the title. In a way the title is fooling the reader when it does not state that it is a review of the user experience since the reader does not immidiately associate DF with user experience, whereas "review of Ubuntu" would.
