xfce is faster than GNOME and KDE but its doesn't contain many features that I want. This is one of the biggest reason that I hate xfce. There are very less applications available for xfce.
Poor performance of Linux interface is due to the way its implemented. Windows GUI is faster because its interface is implemented at kernel level or in kernel mode. This is some kind of technical talk that how the interfaces are implemented but both of them have there own advantages and disadvantages.
