That does it. I've sent off an email to Thom, and I've officially quit this site. Idiots from top to bottom abusing the moderation system, lack of English comprehension when replying by some members, and worse, a lack of 'balls' to engage in a debate and instead 'fly by night' moderate'. I've had people in the past go, "well, you shouldn't worry too much" - well, I'm not worrying, but I am not going to hang around in a forum filled with idiots who can't hold a decent conversation for more than 5 minutes without resorting to name calling, company bashing and avoiding the issue. Good bye, and good luck. Osnews.com used to be the haven from the stupidity on Kryo5hin and Slashdot, now it is has decended into nothing more than a pathetic concoction of digg crossed with boingboing. I've had a look at my 'good posts vs. Bad post' and I can tell you that there is a concerted effort over the last 2 weeks by people to moderate my posts down - no matter what I put in them.

The Tizen Greek Community has some screenshots of a very recent build of Tizen running on a Samsung GT-i8800. It looks wholly unremarkable.

Joint statement to The Next Web from Microsoft and Google: "Microsoft and YouTube are working together to update the new YouTube for Windows Phone app to enable compliance with YouTube's API terms of service, including enabling ads, in the coming weeks. Microsoft will replace the existing YouTube app in Windows Phone Store with the previous version during this time." Good to know these children stopped acting like little pricks. Can we have full Google support in Windows 8 now, please?

Yahoo is acquiring Tumblr, the microblogging and social networking website, for $1.1 billion USD. Tumblr offers little revenue but lots of eyeballs if Yahoo can monetarize them. Now Yahoo is bidding for Hulu, the streaming video service. After years of ineffective responses while Google, Facebook, and others took large chunks of the online advertising market, Yahoo is fighting back. Can Yahoo reignite the momentum it had at the turn of the century? What do you think?

"Sony gave the PS4 50% more raw shader performance, plain and simple (768 SPs @ 800MHz vs. 1152 SPs & 800MHz). Unlike last generation, you don't need to be some sort of Jedi to extract the PS4's potential here. The Xbox One and PS4 architectures are quite similar, Sony just has more hardware under the hood. Weâll have to wait and see how this hardware delta gets exposed in games over time, but the gap is definitely there. Given a comment-field, people are going to type their opinions and opinions are going to differ. That's just basic fact; it's not possible for everybody at OSNews to get along perfectly well, no system in the world can solve that (other than perhaps an xkcd-style stupid filter).

I'd sooner see that there is no moderating based on popularism- debates that thrash out the issues rather than cowards hiding behind the moderating system to silence the opposition.
I've got nothing against differing opinions - if I am wrong, I expect to be corrected. The problem I have is with people who moderate down simply by virtue of whether they disagree.
Moderation is based not on 'do I agree' but whether the point is legitimately made, even if one disagrees with it. That is a mature, respectable moderation system - not this pathetic teenager popularism that is on display now.
