"64 bit is coming to desktops,there is no doubt about that, But apart from Photoshop, I can't think of desktop applications where you would need more than 4 gigabytes of physical memory, which is what you have to have in order to benefit from this technology." It seems to me that by the time it ships, Longhorn will need 4 gigs of RAM.

Interesting times

Although I'm not entirely sure, I get the feeling that the next year will be quite interesting. 64-bit computing at the desktop isn't the cause by itself. However, I do feel that it was the needed catalyst to get the innovation boulder rolling. Maybe now is the time that MS WILL change, at their own speed, or at the speed of other's developments. And, it's about time IMHO.
