It seems to me that by the time it ships, Longhorn will need 4 gigs of RAM.

I actually researched this one before posting. I found some very old references in industry news. Also looked it up on Snopes.com the bible of urban legends, nada. If it is a legend, it came into being very early.

OK, the timeline wasn't the best idea. But the main point is still good. A gap of 5 years (XP 2001, LH 2006) is a long, long time in the computer business.

Don't want to start or participate in flame wars. But I have to say that OSX is unique. Apple has put Unix on the joe sixpack end-user desktop. That it doesn't look like a big leap is kind of the point.
