Mandriva, Mandrake, Lycoris MandrakeSoft has recently released the latest version of their desktop operating system. Mandrake Linux 9.2 Download Edition is available on their web site across three ISO files for the Club members. The first disk is about 650megs and the following two are ~700.

I think renaming "Mandrake Control Center" to "Configure My Computer" and renaming "KDE Control Center" to "Configure My Desktop" is probably the most counter-intuitive change I have ever encountered in a point release. Especially since you can right-click on the desktop and choose "Configure Desktop" and get something completely different than the other two! I think this is going to be very confusing for new users. The difference between "Configure My Computer" "Configure My Desktop" and "Configure Desktop" is not at all obvious even to me.

Agreed. Why did they change it? If they are going to improve the ease of use, why not call "Configure My Desktop" to "Personalise Desktop", and "Configure My Computer" to "Change System Settings".

For a new person, they would get confused which they should use to configure their desktop background. If they see a work like "system" they'll instantly think, "something that has something to do with the computer itself", however, when someone sees "personalise", they'll assume that it must mean changing the background, screensaver and so-forth.
