I find myself using a number of OSes daily but for the OSes I use most, I have some favorite third party applications that I can't live without. Here are my application lists for Windows, Unix/Linux, Mac OS X and BeOS; applications I always download and install after a clean OS installation. Linux: (using Fedora Core 1)
1. Evolution
2. Gaim
3. OpenOffice.org

7. Mplayer
8. Gnome + all it's standard apps
9. Knoppix (so i cheated, this isn't an app)
10. All standard tools (ls, cp, mv, mount, etc) and the bash shell
