OSNews, Generic OSes I find myself using a number of OSes daily but for the OSes I use most, I have some favorite third party applications that I can't live without. Here are my application lists for Windows, Unix/Linux, Mac OS X and BeOS; applications I always download and install after a clean OS installation. Please tell us about your favorite third party apps you use on different OSes by using the provided comment section.

I use Linux exclusively so:
MozillaFirebird
Sylpheed-Claws
Gkrellm2 (for the xmms plugin more than anything)
Xmms
GQView
Emacs (I write for a living and I find it easier to write/edit stuff on this. Never quite got to like Vim).
Openoffice.org (Use this only for formatting the final text)
GNU Privacy Guard
Aterm
Gaim
Matt's Traceroute (I have a lousy dialup conncetion)
And Gnome, for a change every now and then from my default Window Maker desktop.

From my Windows Days:
Mozilla
Pegasus Mail (In fact this is the only Windows-only app that I miss)
PGP
Winamp
Kazaalite
MS Word
Zone Alarm
Norton Antivirus
Yahoo and MSN messengers
