David Dawes is maybe the most active XFree86 developer and he is also the lead founder of the project. He works for Tungsten Graphics, which is the main company working on the XFree, DRI and Mesa codebases today. cool. he ignores the ttf font question about why its so poor on Xfree86 and tells us what we know (regarding the ms web font distribution).
still nice tiny insight into whats up and coming in xfree86. shame it was not elaborated more on what would be the changes from v4 to v5 etc.
