David Dawes is maybe the most active XFree86 developer and he is also the lead founder of the project. He works for Tungsten Graphics, which is the main company working on the XFree, DRI and Mesa codebases today. Why don't we ask the QNX people nicely if we can borrow Photon and port the sucker to Linux? In all honesty, I think X11 is dying in the sense of competition and technology and will continue to do so unless ALL of the Linux/UNIX community decides to drop all their tasks and work on X11 entirely. I have no sympathy to QNX or their developers, it was simply a one time experience, but I noted that Photon was a feasible replacement for X11 on Linux. Anyway... just a thought...
