Graphics, User Interfaces I had to reread Bulia's email three times. It was one of those nigh-mythical events that you read happens in Open Source projects, but never see in person. Yet, amazingly, here it was, and I knew Fred's patch would instantly double Inkscape's utility.

Inkscape is SLOW

I just tried the latest versions *and* a recent binary CVS version for both Linux and Windows. The thing is SLOW. Exremely SLOW. Especially the Windows version (and the GTK+ interface is just not optimized on Windows, I can see the widgets drawing one by one -- it's terrible).

I suggest you sit down and do some optimizations to your engine and maybe give a hand to the GTK+ people too, before you add any new features on your app. That's my honest opinion.
