Graphics, User Interfaces I had to reread Bulia's email three times. It was one of those nigh-mythical events that you read happens in Open Source projects, but never see in person. Yet, amazingly, here it was, and I knew Fred's patch would instantly double Inkscape's utility.

I'm not sure what is wrong with your setup, but I've been very impressed with the performance of Inkscape on both Linux and Windows. In fact, I couldn't even use Illustrator on a machine with only 256MB of RAM to do simple operations, but Inkscape handled everything very well. Even doing things it isn't meant to do (like Desktop Publishing - by exporting SVG text from Scribus and manipulating in Inkscape) Inkscape has never slowed down on me one bit.
