the trio: MySql Firebird PostGreSql
by Anonymous on Fri 18th Jun 2004 07:36 UTC

Lot of java web programmer's use hsqldb database, its a very light weight database.
For RDBMS databases PostGreSql and Firebird are good.
Firebird lacks a free Replication utility compared to PostGreSql.
Firebird runs well on both Windows and Linux while PostGreSql's windows port is still cooking.
Currently we are using MySql and been through its gotchas. Soon moving on to Firebird or PostGreSql.

In my personal opinion MySql's 4.0.18 stable version isn't all that stable.

Wish MySql could use some simple language when they explain their complex license.
