RE: Mysql, PostGresql, MS Sql and Oracle
by Dick Goulet on Tue 22nd Jun 2004 19:52 UTC

Oracle. PostGreSql, and even MS Sql also provide recovery when the hardware and/or power fails, upto the last transaction completed, even if you have to re-constitute at a disaster recovery site. MySQL is only as good as that last cold backup, which could be a week old. Transactions since then, not important according to them. Course it wasn't the MySQL engine that failed, so I guess they have a point, don't they??
