Linux Jono Bacon has written an article on my O'Reilly Blog called The path to unified interaction which looks at the challenges of making our software work natively in the different desktop environments on Linux. Do you think this is something we should strive for, and if so, do you think it is technically possible?

Sun, Red Hat, Novell, SuSE, Ximian, and others
Three of those are the same company, and that one has adopted a "DE agnostic" policy while shipping a KDE-centric distro. Until a version of Novell Linux comes out that defaults to GNOME, it would be inane to put it in the GNOME camp. So your "corporate backers" basically means Sun and RedHat. That's *it*.
