open source = communist applied to software.
It's no a troll, it's the reality. I believe that's quite hard to demonstrate the opposite.
IBM deals with Linux exactly the same way than Roosvelt dealt with Staline during the 2nd WW, the common enemy was Germany, now it's MS.
But Communism, in 1917, was a beautiful utopy.
Today, roots are already lost, 80% of the kernel developement is done only by employees of large American companies like IBM, RH or Novell. Not really hackers or pioneers. Ironically, IBM is the company which have the most of patents.
So as European, I am not interested in Linux. It's just another Unix, not a worldwide revolution.
And if I have to use American technology, I prefere Longhorn. At least there are many innovations inside, it's not a clone of what American companies have already done 20 years ago. And Bill Gates redirects much money from large companies to childs in Africa, and I think it's OK. So in the good way, Bill Gates is closer to the ideal of communism than Linux. Childs in Africa need food, education and health, not free OS.
