General Development The purpose of this essay is to explain why I believe Perl 6, the way it currently seems to progress, is the wrong thing at the wrong time, and why I predict (with all the expected caveats of predicting something) that it won't be successful. I will also suggest a better alternative for the future of Perl which makes more sense at this point.

I guess I'm a cynic

I read pieces like this, and I'm left to wonder if this isn't an attempt to grab mind-share, like a <insert TV personality here> having a sex tape show up on the internet.
As a recent delver into Open Source, I chose Python over Perl due to a gentler learning curve, and the fact that Perl6 would be re-inventing many wheels (presumably rounder).
While the 'Second System' charge is well considered, for Perl6 to be relevant, it needs bold ideas like Parrot behind it. While it may not be complete next week, I daresay that it is gonna be worth the wait.
