General Development The purpose of this essay is to explain why I believe Perl 6, the way it currently seems to progress, is the wrong thing at the wrong time, and why I predict (with all the expected caveats of predicting something) that it won't be successful. I will also suggest a better alternative for the future of Perl which makes more sense at this point.

Perl is one of those languages you can write, but you can't read. Am I the only one who finds reading Perl code arcane? It took me a few minutes to figure out what the code in the article was expounding. That's right, I'm not a Perl guru.

No, you're not the only one. But many people don't have serious difficulty reading Perl code either.

Perl is certainly not a _write-only_ language. Sadly this meme just won't die.
