@Linux_Hawk
A few corrections..
"It will be a premium OS for sure. It will be safe, fun, stable, and expensive because of the better hardware."
You are a system admin but you can't differentiate between MAC:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_address
& Mac (Macintosh)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Macintosh
We are mainly a Windows shop here, but our cheapest, easiest (Easier than Mac Os X? Don't think so..) and most reliable systems here are Linux.
And, yeah, the os is free, apps are free.. but are they of the same "premium" quality? What its the cost of your work? free also?
You don't need the same number of sys admin working with Linux than Mac Os X.. So.. Don't put Mac Os X in your company.. Or you could be in street next day to do it
(No offense, only humor.. XD)
"Linux is allowing us to port our custom software to it costing us only our spare time"
Explain to me why is more costly developing in Mac Os X than in Linux.. :/
"and the hardware cost allows us to get 4 - 5 PC's for the price of 1 MAC" <-- this isn't true, but anyway..
Are those 4-5 PCs build with the same specs as de Macintosh? I don't think so...
"If you factor in the licensing just for MS Office and a few other applications," Duh, Why you have to buy Office for Mac?
"we can get roughly 12 - 14 PC's for the price of just 1 MAC." Yeah, one hundred of PCs for the price of the eMac XD
Or are you just referring with "1 MAC" to the Virginia Tech 5,8$ Million G5 cluster?
