nothing against debian....but this will only reinforce the perception by Americans that Germans (and French) are whiners who have an inferiority complex toward the US. No matter what the question, if the US says yes, they have to say no.
Switching from a preferred piece of software just because it happens to have been sold to an American company reeks of taking your toys and going home because you didn't get your way.
