I decided to write this review to provide a quick inside to the new Linspire 5.0 released on March 15th, 2005. The review will determine the use of Linspire 5.0 in a SOHO (Small Office Home Office) Environment. The download was free for me since I'm a current CNR subscriber. UPDATE: Another Linspire review, and the Linspire 5.0 Live CD is now available for free download.

While I agree with you Linspire is a solid OS, it lacks good native SOHO software. (This would apply to other distros too) The software I am referring to would include but not limited to the equivalent of the following:
I am not talking about some small applications that mimics part of these programs. I am talking about full fledged ready to go professional software packages that can help get things done professionally. Either closed sourced or open sourced, I don't really care. The fact is, these equivalents are not there and therefore a Linspire (or any other Linux distro) will NOT be suitable for those SOHO users needing these functions.
If you are one of the SOHO users that DO NOT require these functions, then Linspire is good for you.
I guess, what I am really saying is, the infrastructure is there. All they need is for 3rd party developers to follow suit and this had not happened yet.
