I decided to write this review to provide a quick inside to the new Linspire 5.0 released on March 15th, 2005. The review will determine the use of Linspire 5.0 in a SOHO (Small Office Home Office) Environment. The download was free for me since I'm a current CNR subscriber. UPDATE: Another Linspire review, and the Linspire 5.0 Live CD is now available for free download.

Another poster made the comment about Dell laptops; well, I have installed it on a Compaq Evo N600c notebook in dual boot configuration with Win2000.
I did not use all the facilities available, but certainly I CNR'd some applications (logged in as user) including Firefox and Balsa, and it found automatically the sound, network, and video drivers and installed them.
Actually, I would have thought that normally one would use a root login to install stuff to the OS> Please pardon my ignorance; while I've used PCs since the days of the NEC APC-3 in 1986, I've only really got to know Linux since about 2002.
Re the Live distro of Linspire 5-0. I am currently downloading that (5.0.69), because they are a wonderful tool to use when in strife. The insiders' initial release download (5.0.59) was a combined install and live distro, so I don't know if the general one was.
The live distro on the insider's ISO works well in the same Compaq laptop, as it also does in an IBM P4 Netvista and a locally built tower running an MSI Duron 1300MHz processor.

Hope this info helps.
