Linspire I decided to write this review to provide a quick inside to the new Linspire 5.0 released on March 15th, 2005. The review will determine the use of Linspire 5.0 in a SOHO (Small Office Home Office) Environment. The download was free for me since I'm a current CNR subscriber. UPDATE: Another Linspire review, and the Linspire 5.0 Live CD is now available for free download.

Open Office is ugly in Linspire 5 because they did not install the KDE 3 Update with it. You can download the openoffice.org-kde plugin from click and run which will make Openoffice look more like the rest of your Linspire OS. http://www.linspire.com/lindows_products_details.php?product_id=186... (I think they just over looked it) I hope they add this during their point releases.

But I don't know why people compare Linspire to Xandros all the time. They are really both trying to cover different markets. For one Linspire is much better at multimedia then Xandros and Xandros is much better for business use (Including Active Directory support which is not out in version 3 yet)

To me Xandros is more like Windows 2000 and Linspire is more like Windows 98 SE (Meaning Xandros is more geared twords business users and Linspire is more geared twords home users.)

No Linspire is not perfect but nor is OSX, Windows or Solaris. For such a young OS I think they have done a great job.
