Slackware, Slax "I have very mixed feelings about this release of Slackware. I do not think that the underlying philosophy of Slackware is obsolete. The concept of a system that can be configured and molded to the n'th degree is still in my opinion very much a good idea. However, this release of Slackware is not without its problems in execution." Read the review here.

re: Slackware is past for me

I've played with Arch and found that many of the init scripts were buggy and wireless support is very poor. I have read many posts in the forums that say the same thing (search for "wireless"). Also, some of the packages are not that stable and the GNOME install is totally borked.

But, other than that, it's pretty cool. ;) Arch people, don't get all riled up. I'm partially joking here. Arch is nice, and has really great potential, but for me, the stability, time-tested maturity, and excellent init scripts make Slackware the top choice.
