Slackware, Slax "I have very mixed feelings about this release of Slackware. I do not think that the underlying philosophy of Slackware is obsolete. The concept of a system that can be configured and molded to the n'th degree is still in my opinion very much a good idea. However, this release of Slackware is not without its problems in execution." Read the review here.

Hey, sorry to hear about your experience. I have a totally opposite experience. I have posted about in various slackware forums and on slackware mailing lists and I have never received the hostility you speak of. I have not seen it, either. (But I'm not saying it doesn't exist).

However, I *did* receive some of that kind of treatment on debian mailing lists. But, hey, whatever.

I think that sort of behaviour is seen all over the place in Linux land, unfortunately. Still, the poor behaviour of some users does not mean that all users act that way and it should not reflect negatively on the distribution itself (especially in the case of Slackware since Patrick has been very vocal about how that sort of behaviour upsets him).

Anyway, hope you have found your distro of choice. Cheers!
