Read that joel article - just read it. Realise it doesnt apply. First its the same team - not a different team. why are we doing a better job second time? We learnt lessons from the first time. and it's paying off massive dividends. No way would this have been possible built on the existing codebase.
. By your implied assumption that ANY form of rewrite is bad, we should never demolish a house. We simply should keep rennovating it centry after century. Extrapolate that and imagine what kind of world we'd be in if we all did that.
