Yeah, I might be just re-inventing the wheel here, who knows? But I had this (original? I doubt it) idea a few months ago and I was meant to write about it for some time now. So, my idea is about creating a new operating system that is like none of the current ones. It would be so different, that porting applications from other "traditional" systems wouldn't be possible. But the gains would be much more important of what we would lose by implementing a brand new new system.

1. Would the "save" module be able to save all filetypes(not just a single filetype per module)..creating generic/universal modules would reduce bloat/reinventing the wheel...
1a. If SAVE was a universal modual (I can forsee groups of programmers battling over whose module supported the most filetypes...) then a set of standard modules would be Created, as saving and printing and what not are very, very basic commands to use... if this is how it would work, it almost starts to sound like the posix (don't know the correct term) of open, save, read, write, etc...
2. A program could still me "made", bundling the 30 modules together in to a package in a way creates the same feeling of a program correct? Maybe I do not quite understand the idea properly.
3. What are MIME types, exactly? and would there be generic modules like the tcp/ip module for connecting to the internet...
