Linux Why do it? I am asked this question more often than I expected, even by existing Linux users who I expected to know as well as I the reasons for building a next-generation desktop Linux for the home user. So here are some of my reasons for thinking that we must spend the effort to create a better desktop on Linux than any existing version now has. There is so much talking about making Linux better suit begining computer users' needs. And it would be nice if some of them (those, who care) could try Linux. In fact there are some distributions who are seeking that goal -- Lindows, Lycoris, Xandros and some others. But it is important to care about what experienced Linux users need, too. So, can someone write an article about what a real hardcore Linux geek needs and publish it on OSNews, that all the world could see that Linux isn't only for newbies? :-)
