Yes, we all know the "big three" (Red Hat, Mandrake, SuSE) commercial distros, we also know the next big bunch of respected traditional/geek distros (Debian and Slackware and some might add Gentoo too in this list), and we know the "other big three" in the desktop Linux area (Lindows, Xandros, Lycoris). However, not everyone knows what is available besides this "threshold". Here is a list of Linux distros that worth knowing about and to keep an eye on!

Gentoo might come back when 1.4 gets released
That's cause the damn release don't really matter, and anyone can care less about what version of Gentoo is released (until 2.0 that is, if there are major changes).
It's a bleeding edge source distro, and it's always up to date, it's always new...
Maybe that's why it isn't growing exponentially... but heck, they can always take RH's naming scheme, and release each friggin RC as a version. Or... erm... Release 1.4 as, Gentoo X.
