IconWith the recent push from OpenBSD to open firmwares to redistribution as well as obtaining new documentation for several wireless chipsets it would seem OpenBSD is pushing for other areas to open up as well.

Theo de Raadt posts that for the past four months he and the OpenBSD developers have been seeking documentation for the AAC RAID controllers from Adaptec and have received to date nothing but air. The purpose of this drive is to add the desired functionality of being able to properly recover without dropping into the BIOS.

Theo has given an ultimatum that should the people at Adaptec not see his side of things by Monday, support for the card will be dropped for the OpenBSD 3.7 release, set to be tagged on Tuesday.
