About computers in movies I'd have to say that even though I'm a computer geek, I think it's best to use them in movies only when absolutely necessary because you can always recognize the computer-generated stuff - it just doesn't feel real somehow. And even though rendering quality got a lot better over the last decade, I don't think computers will be able to replace scenes shot in the real world in the near future. That being said, where's that beer and popcorn... The problem with computer generated effects is that they give people like Michael Bay and Paul Anderson the illusion that they're as capable of making "Big" movies as folks like Ridley Scott, Steven Spielberg, or (pre-Titanic) James Cameron.

Most of today's big directors substitute emotionally-appropriate soundtrack for the actual creation of mood, and substitute CGI effects for creative/unique filmmaking. Why is this article on OSNews? I guess i am not suprised to see actors commenting on things they know nothing about...politics,technology,morals...etc.. Why people think actors opinions are more important then average people's i will never understand. Actors are commodities that are bought and sold on the DVD racks at Wal-Mart nothing more. I tend to watch movies with lots of sfx once and then forget about them.
