It's great to see Slackware being ported to another (soon to be heavily used) architecture, although I question the name change. There's more than enough "splinters" of established distro's and half-baked ones that call themselves distro's, so I'm not sure if this is a positive thing for the OS community.

I wish they called it Slackware 10.1 x86_64 or something. I know generally speaking its irrelevant but I am getting kinda tired of names in the OSS community.

bout time! I love slackware and have been using current since 9.1. Don't have a 64bit system because there was no 64bit slack, but now I have a reason to upgrade.

Excellent job! I think the name is great considering it is just your show without the offical Pat V. sanctioning.

One can't help but wonder though why the newly released Slackware book wasn't announced here on osnews.

Hey Frederick, thanks so much for all the hard work that went into creating slamd64! It's great and also very much appreciated that you were willing to take up the task of porting a great distro to the 64-bit architecture. Keep up the good work and my hat's off to you!
