I've had a PSP since day 2 and only have a couple of gripes:

1. The music folder only supports one level of sub-folders. That means you can't drag/drop your iTunes library and expect it to work since iTunes stores as:

Library/Artist/Album/Song.mp3

where the PSP only supports:

Library/Artist/Song.mp3

2. Is that it's tough to do 2 things at one on the device. Would love to be able to listen to music while I read a e-comic or surf the net but it's just not possible.

Both can probably be fixed.

PS: the Sony Media Manager should have been a free download. Sony sucks for charging for it. And then there's all of those other media players built around 20-60GB hard drives that are cheaper than the base PSP's, all friendly to many video formats. The Sony PSP is getting squeezed out of the media market here.

Too bad the neuros doesn't support making 800x480 videos. Probably a (much) later release. It's primary function is gaming. As with any new system the pace was slow but there are several games I own which I'd recommend. The battery life isnt as bad as people make it out to be. Not for me anyway. My commute to work is a little over an hour and I can go 2-3 days without charging it. I don't really use the music or photo aspects of it... so i'm not concerned with being able to do both. Decent titles are *just now* being previewed on gaming sites, movies cost just as much if not more than the equivalent on DVD, and MemoryStick media still costs far more than SD or CF.

If the PSP had cheap MS cards,decently priced videos, and some *games* there would be a nice fight against the iPod.

That said it's not the hardware that's failing to deliver, it's the company that released it. There are incredible possibilities with the PSP, I just wish Sony would take their hands off it's neck and let it breathe a little. This is the main reason I decided to not get it. Nice device, plenty of power, but the company behind it is just trash in my book.

I much prefer to play quick games on my DS that are small (physically) and cheaper (30-40 vs 40-50 bucks). Sure, the DS can't match the PSP for overall duration, graphics quality, and some other aspects, but for portable gaming, I don't need a console. I've got that already hooked uip to my TV.

I am drawn to the PSP like the dark side of the force (or the one true ring), but like Luke (or Frodo) I have resited. The PSP is probably the most boring shiny device I've seen. It's *just* a PS2 where you have to buy your games and movies all over again. Great business, bad for consumers. It's amazing technology for sure, but the DS sure is the one with the interesting software of the two (even though a lot of crummy license titles have started showing up lately).
