Neither do I, not that it matters. It’s basically a marketing term for a market that Intel and AMD supposedly want to get into where they think there are untold riches. They’re in for a disappointment.
I think AMD and Intel are fooling themselves. How many living rooms are Intel, AMD and Microsoft in at the moment? All of this convergence stuff is rubbish as well. Aside from the fact that to make a digital home work, you need a complete freeflow of content – read free or ridiculously cheap – to make it work and even remotely attractive. Why is everyone talking about iPods, a digital home and convergence? Because of the MP3 format and the large collections of MP3s people have. How did they get them? They ripped their CD collections and downloaded MP3s for free, that’s how.
All this is more likely to be done by a fully fledged consumer electronics company than anything the hapless Intel and AMD are producing – if at all. They certainly have absolutely nothing attractive that will make anyone want to buy their stuff. Now some of the stuff coming out of the R & D labs of Far Eastern companies like LG are incredible. That’s where the cool stuff is going to come from in the next few years, when they can mass produce it and get it cheap enough, not from a bunch of PC companies.
I just read it as “64,” because the official way of reading it annoys me. “Live” is also too generic of a brand name to convey a platform. Intel’s being far too “creative” with its brand and AMD isn’t trying quite hard enough.
I still read it as “64” as well, but if it’s “Vive” vs “Live”, I can see that pronunciation catching on.
In Roman number, it should read “LXIV” instead of “Viiv”.
Sixty-four is LXIV in Roman numerals. But, six-four is viiv.

ViiV is a really dumb name. If it was supposed to be Roman literals then I’m affraid there is a small problem with the rules. Plus roman literals do not have small and capital letters. The Intel creativity is a borderline stupidity this time arround. Plus [ v e v ] unlike Centrino sound stupid too. It took years and tons of money to educate the people whan Centrino ment and now Intel introduces a new term ? WTF As far as “Live” goes there are a lot of products with live in the name as of latelly so this could be good or bad for AMD ( depending on your previous experience with Live products ). I am not really sure whan AMD’s goal with the Live platform is but if it is entertainment then I absolutelly agree that they could have come up with a better name. But then again, from the article it seems like AMD is tying itself with MS and in that case they are probably hoping to ride the MS Live wave. Either case I have really come to respect the AMD engineers in the last couple of years and I couldn’t care less about the name.
