I like .net and I think mono is a good idea for linux... but Paco did lie during the interview and that was bad. The interview asked if you could take .net applications from windows and run it on linux; and if Winforms did run under linux. Paco said that was the case but didn't mention that:
1. There are incompatibilites between ms .net on windows and Novell .net on linux, filepath is one core example
(directory separator incompatibilities) and some ms .net libraries don't exist in Linux (directX and such).
2. Winforms is NOT finnished. It has not even been released as beta)

For a moment there you had me worried!

Mono's implementation of System.Windows.Forms will come out in Beta 1 of Mono 1.2 in the first week of April.

The things you point out about path differences between Windows and Linux are true but are not an artifact of Mono or .NET for that matter. Cross-platform programmers should always be aware of the differences between OS platforms and keep that in mind during design and implementation. System.IO provides a System.IO.Path.DirectorySeparatorChar member that will help you in your development.

Thank you for your support and admiration for the mono:: project.

Good news indeed. Honestly though I think this competition between .NET & mono on one side, and Java on the other is great. I have predominantly programmed in Java becasue the Universities require it but I would love to try out .NET one of these days. Great job to the mono dev team.

!!!
Correct

I knew it. Thats why the anagram of Mono is a monkey (check the icon).

Extrangely, it can mean also nice, cute, pretty...

So Mono is a "mono" language to use. In 1 or 2 years could become a widely used language. I see some lacks, but many advantages, and a future good OS interoperability, using it.
