Apple delivered a new version of Remote Desktop to customers Tuesday, the first update to the software in nearly a year and the first major revision in almost two years. Remote Desktop 3, which allows users to control and administer Macs remotely, packs more than 50 new features, Apple said. Among these are support for Spotlight searching across remote Macs, a Dashboard widget, Automator support, an AutoInstall feature that automatically installs software on Macs when they reappear on the network, full drag and drop support to and from remote Macs, Application Usage and User History reports, and more.

Just be looking over the new RD3 and it looks very impressive. We use a remote desktop client at work on a win 2k network this looks very impressive Apple have done a great job. System admin Apple style.
And I just ordered the unlimited client version this morning. I knew something was up when the Management Software for 2.0 was not updated for the Intel Macs. Oh well, only $299.

I always found it fast and suited my needs perfectly.
As such i thought the price was justified
Why would you pay for this? XP does all of this for free.
No it doesn’t. This also manages several macs. Including installing new software, etc.
You have to have a copy of Windows Server in order to do this kind of stuff. And let me tell you, it costs a heck of a lot more than $299.
If you want just plain logging into a remote mac and seeing it’s desktop, use VNC instead.
You have obviously no clue whatsoever what it is that Apple RD is and what its featureset is, to compare RD3 to your default winxppro remote desktop is just ridiculous
Perhaps if you RTFM instead of trolling, you will know why some people pay …
