But at least there is this one, which is quite new:

Syllable will include the open-source clone of REBOL called Orca (for now, it may be renamed later). Orca is intended to be the primary scripting language for Syllable.

It wouldn't be far from the truth to consider Orca to be for Syllable, what ARexx is for AmigaOS, or (Object) Rexx for OS/2.

You should visit http://syllable.org/forum.php and search for Orca

Media framework...

Interesting project...

I was wondering, anyone have any clue about Syllable's media framework? Does it use a directshow style framework, what codecs are available for the platform. Does Syllable have any alternatives to VirtualDubMod and AviSynth? Their website talks about their target audience
needing "multimedia playback and encoding" so I am guessing at one point the devs will want to add some multimedia encoding applications....

I probably told you the same thing back then: this is an Alpha version that is not feature complete, so things like dial-up arn't implemented yet. For those with non-dialup internet connections "surfing" works fine. If you want to be constructive, help get dial up working; Arno has ported pppd and it works with PPPoE (DSL) connections. That's the hard part done. It just needs a little more work to get it working on dial-up.

If you're not going to do that, then you have to accept the fact that it isn't done yet and be patient. I know it's far easier to troll OSNews instead of helping, but you sometimes have to accept that life is a little larger than your own world.

Yep, and in 2006 dial-up isnt as important as it was in 1986.
