Marcelo Tosatti of Red Hat, who took over the maintenance of the 2.4 series of the Linux kernel from Linus at version 2.4.16, has decided to pass it on to Willy Tarreau who has been doing the 2.4 hotfix series for a while. In the meantime, v2.4.33-rc3 has been released.
There is an error, RC3 have been realised today
That the Kernel 2.4 is still being maintained, hopefully there will be at least one distro using it while it’s being maintained(By now I think it’s Slackware).
The suprising thing to me is that all the other distros
rushed out and started using 2.6 , which , imho,
isn’t as solid as 2.4. Kudos to Patrick (Slackware)
for sticking with the old kernel.
