I had figured since Alan Cox's 600 battery exploded, there would be some recall related. My original battery only lasts about 20 mins. I could use a new one~ :-P

I was about to say the same thing. Bad year for Sony. Doesn't make me happy about my plan to by a PS3, and I can safely say that I will NEVER "need a Wii".

Sony should do full recall

What Sony should do now, is do a complete recall of all the batteries that might be affected and fully disclose what other manufacturers are using them.

If they don't, sooner or later they will be sued for knowing, but not doing enough.

Also I have a Thinkpad X21 too and the batterie (manufactured by IBM) is don't affected (yet?). And have already 3.5h of lifetime today :-)
In a bit of time, also the PSP batteries will be affected... Sony, go home!!!

Just desserts

Wow. I can't help but feel they are getting their just reward for the root-kit and DRM.

When I was growing up, Sony had a sparkling image. They were widely regarded as a great company. The craftsmanship of their products was the golden standard by which others were judged.

Today, most of what I hear is about how they make inferior products that don't last, try to sneak root-kits onto people's computers with DRM infested CD's, and make batteries that are so bad that they can actually injure, or even kill you.

The US learned a lot from Japanese companies in the 80's and 90's. Looks like Sony learned a bit from us, too.Edited 2006-09-29 14:29
